[Geoserver-users] Is Geoserver 2.4.0 compatability with Oracle Java version 8u25?

Hi Users,

I have been using Geoserver version 2.4.0 on JAVA environment version 1.7.

Now I would like to upgrade the JAVA version to ‘Oracle Java version 8u25’.

I would like to know if my existing Geoserver version is compatible with the new version of JAVA?

Googling for: "geoserver java 7"

brings me to:

http://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/production/java.html

I think that says it all?

Richard

This is the "latest" documentation, it is relevant to the 2.7.x series.
This is the page for version 2.4.x:
http://docs.geoserver.org/2.4.x/en/user/production/java.html

The page says java 6 or newer, but in fact it was just not
tested against java 7.
We currently have no version officially tested against java 8,
although in practice it seems to work fine.

Cheers
Andrea

I have been testing on docker and can confirm geoserver works fine
with java 8/tomcat 8.

A list of docker images to test various combinations is here:

I have a postgis store with over 50 OS layers in.

I need a copy of it so I can change the database server and schema

I could just set up a new store and add all 50 layers to it but I was hoping there was some way I could copy the folder and just change the database connection information

Is this doable ?

And if so how ?

PS - I can't just test it as it's a live system

Thanks

Yes that is possible but it requires some manual editing.

- Go into your geoserver data_dir/workspaces/ directory. Find the
workspace you want to copy. Edit the underlying xml files.

Hi Users,

I have been using Geoserver version 2.4.0 on JAVA environment version 1.7.

In my real time environment I have 2 layers configured with my postgres database. The layers were visible as expected.

After few months of deployment, At few specific zoom levels I am not able to view these layers.

The problem is resolved by the user deleting their IE cookies. Can you please advise why this might be happening and how to manage it. These layers are a critical decision layer for the user, and their display (or not) should not be dependent on the cookie state. Also cookie state should not affect the display of any layers??

Please advice

Thanks and Regards,

Deepthi
