[Geoserver-users] Is it possible to manage users through REST API?

Hi,

is it possible to manage users through GeoServer REST API? Create users, assign roles etc...

I have checked the REST API doc, I don't see it there, I have checked the User/Group and Role services and I see it described as XML files and JDBC. If I am about to manage the users programatically and want to avoid JDBC, do I need to edit the XML files directly?

No, this is not possible at the moment.

Yes, you have to modify the roles.xml and the users.xml directly. There are xml schema files (roles.xsd,users.xsd) you can use to validate your modifications.
