[Geoserver-users] Issue installing GeoServer 1.5.0-beta1 (windows executable)

I am attempting to install GeoServer 1.5.0_beta1 from the windows installer.
After starting GeoServer from the Windows Start menu, I am unable to
successfully bring up geoserver in the browser.

I have attached a copy of the INFO and ERROR messages I receive in the
command prompt window.

The GeoServer_1.5.0_beta1 download page contains the notice... "You will
need JAI and ImageIO installed in your JRE in order to run this version of
GeoServer." I'm not sure if this what the notice was referring to but I
downloaded and executed http://www.nabble.com/file/5054/JettyErrors.txt
JettyErrors.txt the JRE install
(http://download.java.net/media/jai-imageio/builds/release/1.1/jai_imageio-1_1-lib-windows-i586-jre.exe)
for the JavaTM Advanced Imaging Image I/O Tools Binary Builds
(https://jai-imageio.dev.java.net/binary-builds.html#Stable_builds). It
might be a good idea to add a bit of text on how to install JAI and ImageIO
to the download page.

OS: Windows XP
java: jdk1.5.0_09

Hi Tyler,
Sorry for the late reply. Yes JAI and imageio area a bit of a pain. We have included them in 1.4 and we need to work out something for 1.5.
There is a little JAI howto on the geotools site that I reference often (http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOT/2.2+Dependencies)
We do need to move it over to the geoserver site and make it a little easier to understand.

I followed the geotools instructions and installed the following:
jai_imageio-1_1-lib-windows-i586-jdk.exe
jai_imageio-1_1-lib-windows-i586-jre.exe
jai-1_1_3-lib-windows-i586-jdk.exe
jai-1_1_3-lib-windows-i586-jre.exe

I have both the Java jdk and jre installed...
C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_09
C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_09

When I attempt to start GeoServer from the windows Start menu, I still get
an error referring to an error creating bean with name 'applicationState'.
The log messages are attached:
