[Geoserver-users] JDK version?

Is Geoserver 2.8 certified under JDK 1.8? Documents seem to contradict themselves.

Peter Parker

Peter,

GeoServer 2.8 requires a minimum of Java 7, but is supported under Java 8. Where in the docs do you see a contradiction? Please let us know so that we can fix it.

Kind regards,
Ben.

GeoServer 2.9 will be the first one built with Java 8.

I try to be clear in the docs on what version of Java is used to build and test each release.

If you would like to have more confidence than that - we depend on members of the community (such as yourself) to do a checkout of GeoServer 2.8 and build using Java 8.

Hi Jody,
Actually the doc I found mentioned the open source jdk 8 for 2.9. Since it looks as if the code is tied to that in places that makes sense.

Many Thanks,
-Tony

Tony,

both OpenJDK 8 and Oracle JDK 8 are supported platforms for GeoServer 2.9.

Kind regards,
