I just exposed access to my database using GeoServer and the ability to provide KML Network Links has been a huge hit with users! However, I need help teaching them how to filter the results to view only what they are interested in. The database has several years worth of data for any given area, but my users are only interested in anything that comes in during a rolling 7 day window... i.e. they want use google earth to monitor their areas in near-real time for newly arriving data. I can speak enough ogc filter language to tell them how write a filter using <PropertyIsGreaterThan> or <PropertyIsBetween> for specified dates, but then they have to update their links every day to include today's date. Is there a way to form a query filter via the restful url to make it a rolling seven day window?
Thank you for time!
Hmmm
How about a simple python script (or similar) that does that? Shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes to knock up from scratch if you’re rusty/new to the language. Just generate new KML files.

More likely though, this page appears to answer your question: http://docs.geoserver.org/stable/en/user/googleearth/tutorials/time/time.html - looks like you can integrate it nicely with the google earth time slider.
