Hi,
I have this problem which I ecounter quite often.
When set up my data in Geoserver and go to the mappreviews page, data is displayed perfect (wms). But when opening kml network link in eiter Google Maps og Google Earth the data doesn’t appear. Just endless tress and sub trees show up in the theme selector with no information (title, description, pointsymbolizer etc.). It works fine with the demo datasets provided with GS installer - the title, description and symbolizers show up perfectly with the “states” dataset.
When I use the &mode=download it shows up fine with. Any clues to what i am doing wrong ?
Attached is a small dataset (postgresql) that I currently have problems with.
Thanks!
/Martin

Martin,
I’ve had problems with point layers also, especially in the GWC vector caching, which doesn’t appear to work at all.
I always get this in GE when looking at a point layer from the GWC Demo page:
“HTTP 400(Bad Request) The request could not be understood by the server due to malformed syntax.”
Try it here:

Hi guys,
This is more or less a known issue. In 1.7.1 or 1.7.2 the default output mode for kml changed to output super overlays. Unfortunately that has been met with limited success, as superoverlays rarely work out of the box. So the community has decided that the default mode should revert back to "refresh" mode (pre 1.7.1).
http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOS-3185
So in the next releases of both 2.0.x and 1.7.x you should see the behavior of old reestablished. But for now the workaround will be to use mode=refresh.
