good afternoon
This is my first participation, I hope not out of the purposes of the list.

Geo server gives the option to display the layers in different image formats (gif, GPEG, png).

Is there any way to do this but putting a layer of background google maps?
The documentation says to make a html file to display google maps, but I do it in a container <DIV>, and what I need is to see it as an image.
I send my html file
thanks
Oscar Cano

gmaps2.html (800 Bytes)

You may wish to look into a client, such as OpenLayers or Leaflet. These clients can combine images from different map providers including GeoServer (with your own data) and Google Maps, Open Street Maps, Bing, etc…

Hi Steve,
This page:
http://docs.geoserver.org/stable/en/user/styling/sld-reference/textsymbolizer.html Says of the :

“For non-point geometries, a representative point is used (such as the centroid of a line or polygon).”

However, you can mangle/convert geometries (though there can be a performance penalty). The list of geometric functions is here:

http://docs.geoserver.org/stable/en/user/filter/function_reference.html#geometric-functions

There may be a simpler way to do this, but in theory you can use one of those to move the point to the desired location and then label it.

Cheers,
Jonathan

Hi All,

Is there a way to avoid having GeoServer label on the centroid? Is goodness of fit supposed to do this?

Was this thread resolved?:

Thanks,
