Hey.

that you were helping sredl with his problem, I’m having the same problem as he did (cant get “bill” to get admin rights), and I’m wondering if you managed to get a solution for it, since the topic kinda “died” some time ago and there aren’t any new replies.
The roles support has been added on recent versions of GeoServer, so you can give a try to the latest 2.4.4 version.
