[Geoserver-users] LDAP tutorial problem

Hey.
I'm trying to use LDAP for authentication and I'm going through this
tutorial

I'm using that jar for the LDAP server. The connection is okey, I can also
login with "bob" or "bill", the problem is when I'm trying to configure user
roles. I do everything as described in the tutorial and I end up with "bill"
still not having admin rights and the default "admin" user loses it's admin
rights.

So was anyone able to go through the tutorial and make it work without
problems or maybe if anyone knows what i could try to get it to work?
I'm guessing the groups on LDAP server aren't properly maped as roles on the
GeoServer ...

Hi,
I did a review of the tutorial, and it needs to be fixed/completed in some parts.
To successfully map admin role to an LDAP group you should directly compile the fields “Group to use as ADMIN” and “Group to use as GROUP_ADMIN”. Set both to “ADMIN” and Save.

I will update the tutorial ASAP.
In the meantime, please try to see if it works this way.

Thank you. The thing you mentioned worked like a charm. Admin permissions are
now working on "bill" account.
