[Geoserver-users] Legend problem in GeoExt Styler

Legend problem in GeoExt Styler
Hi there,
I installed GeoExt Styler for Geoserver and could start it. If I then choose
a layer I can't see any legend or rules and have no chance to edit any sdl.
But I see the layers.
Firebug says: "request.responseXML is null". I can't get the
solution(stupid), but I think he can't find the sld-files. Is this any about
a proxy?
Any ideas?
thx,
Pete

Hi Pete,

The styler extension also requires that you have the restconfig plugin installed as well. Have you installed that plugin?

I did, copying this plugin(war-file) to the "..geoserver/WEB-INF/lib"
-Directory should be enough. Is there anything else to do. I think it's more
like an proxy problem, isn't it?
thx,

Possibly. How are you deploying the styler? Is it in the geoserver www directory? ie are you using the same base url that you would use to normally access geoserver, example:

http://localhost:8080/geoserver
http://localhost:8080/geoserver/www/styler/index.html

Also, are you using firebug? Are there any other messages that come up? Or any http calls that failed?

Hi.

I am facing exactly same problem. I have copied the jar file downloaded from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/geoserver/files/GeoServer%20Extensions/1.7.6/geoserver-1.7.6-restconfig-plugin.zip/download

to my geoserver\lib folder as well as
geoserver\webapps\geoserver\WEB-INF\lib folder.

But still I am not able to see any options in the legends. The add new and
delete selected buttons at the bottom are also not active.

I am able to see and apply my own layers hosted on localhost. But I am not
able to edit any of the styles.

Please help.

Regards,
Jay.

Looking through the log I don't see any requests from the restconfig plug-in. Are you sure it is installed? Is there a restconfig-*.jar in the WEB-INF/lib directory of your geoserver installation?

I still don't see much in the logs. The only errors i see have to do with a style being invalid with respect to its dataset (the NAME attribute being used in the sld, but not present in the data).

the only other thing I can suggest is to try and send me some of the data you are working with, and i can try to reproduce the problem on my end.

Also, are you using firebug? Are there any other messages that come
up? Or any http calls that failed?

I did, copying this plugin(war-file) to the "..geoserver/WEB-INF/lib"
-Directory should be enough. Is there anything else to do. I think
it's
more
like an proxy problem, isn't it? thx,

Hi Pete,

The styler extension also requires that you have the restconfig
plugin installed as well. Have you installed that plugin?

Legend problem in GeoExt Styler
Hi there,
I installed GeoExt Styler for Geoserver and could start it. If I
then
choose
a layer I can't see any legend or rules and have no chance to edit
any
sdl.
But I see the layers.
Firebug says: "request.responseXML is null". I can't get the
solution(stupid), but I think he can't find the sld-files. Is this
any
about
a proxy?
Any ideas?
thx,
Pete

Hi,

I cannot get the legend to work either. I'm using:
Ubuntu 8.04.3
geoserver 2.0.1
restconfig 2.0.1
styler-1.7.3

I am using the url http://192.168.0.31:8080/geoserver/www/styler/index.html
and the error i get back from firebug is:
request.responseXML is null
http://192.168.0.31:8080/geoserver/www/styler/script/Styler.js
Line 72

I can get the legend working in Windows7 with the same setup listed above
(Windows7, geoserver 2.0.1, restconfig 2.0.1, styler-1.7.3) except i have to
change the url to
http://192.168.0.127:8080/geoserver/data/www/styler/index.html

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx,
Dana

I still don't see much in the logs. The only errors i see have to do
with a style being invalid with respect to its dataset (the NAME
attribute being used in the sld, but not present in the data).

the only other thing I can suggest is to try and send me some of the
data you are working with, and i can try to reproduce the problem on my
end.

Hi,

Did anyone solve this problem? I get exactly the same error using FF3.6.3
and Geoserver 2.0.2 on WinXP.

I have checked the REST config:
http://localhost:8080/geoserver/rest/styles/point gives this as a relply:
Style "point" default_point.sld

If I open the sld, it's a the correct SLD.

Any tips?
