Hi Wolfram
If you really need mapfish 2 it's easy to install it as a separate app.
Just download the war and deploy it, all you should have to change in
your code is the print capabilities URL, everything else should work the
same.
That's what I did, hope this helps...

thanks all for your support - meanwhile I have implemented the mapfish-print
2.0 servlet - with the help of Jesse Eichar the image output is now avaible
for us.
@Mauro - please have a look at the source (imagemagick parameter correction)
before implementing for geoserver.
