[Geoserver-users] netCDF

Hi List

I have to decide between MapServer and GeoServer for a project, and has a requirement for displaying netCDF data. Preferably without converting it. The requirement is only to display it 2D for a specific time or other parameter in traditional WMS style.

From what I can see in the archives, there is an unsupported netCDF datastore - has anyone successfully used it in a stable production environment?

I'm aware that Simone is working on a Branch with n-Dimensional raster data , but I guess I can't base a project with delivery in March on that :slight_smile:

I would definitely be very interested in hearing about pulling data into
GeoServer via netCDF as well - something I have not yet had the bandwidth to
research - place share any findings or info.

Yes. The version we use is probably out of date compared to that in
svn. At the time I made some modifications to the plugin. I also had
to make some changes to Geoserver's code--most notably
to pass TIME and ELVATION parameters to the netcdf plugin. From what I
know, Daniele Romagnoli has streamlined the Geoserver work to conform
to the WMS specification.
