Hello, I am pretty new to GeoServer but I have successfully installed it and created some maps from shapefiles in the recent past. Today I am having trouble successfully starting GeoServer after installing it on a Windows 2000 machine. The windows installer runs successfully and when I use the batch file created by the installer I get the exception (several times) posted in the attached log. I do not change anything after the windows installer runs. It seems strange to me that this would happen with a plain vanilla installation. Log File: GeoServer-1.7.2.log

Hi,
It seems the problem lies in accessing the internal epsg database. I have seen this problem before. Can you go the Temp directory for the users profile you are running as, and delete the "GeoTools" folder inside of it. Then restart geoserver.
Hopefully that will solve it.
