[Geoserver-users] New Windows installer and 64-bit systems

Hi all,
I have downloaded and installed the new windows installer. I’m able to start
the service, but I have this error:

HTTP ERROR: 503
SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE
RequestURI=/geoserver

I have opened the log file, and I have this error:
“Unable to load the Wrapper’s native library ‘wrapper.dll’”

I have a 64-bit windows system. Probably it's impossible to use this
installer with it. Am I right?

Thank you,

Andrea

Hi Andrea. You may be on to something. What flavor of Windows are you using? (XP/Vista/7?) The installer was never tested against 64-bit systems, but I believe it should be possible, although we may need to switch out the wrapper.dll.

Could you file a JIRA issue for this? I'll see what I can do...

Andrea,

Try changing the service to login as a user with admin rights to see if you get access then. I just did that with my 32 bit system and mine started working.

I'm just the administrator. Geoserver people have told me that this
installer is not tested with 64bit systems, and that it's necessary to use a
different wrapper for these systems.

Thank you,

Andrea,

Thanks for making the ticket.

Ugh, look at this:

From the Java service Wrapper page:

http://wrapper.tanukisoftware.org/doc/english/download.jsp

"64-bit Windows versions of the Java Service Wrapper are not currently being made available in the Community Edition to help cover ongoing development costs."

Anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed?

Thanks,

Humm... it seems there is hope if we use Tomcat instead
of Jetty:

Not the kind of change I'm eagerly looking forward to thought...
Cheers

then for the moment this very comfortable installer cannot be compatible
with 64-bit systems.
I will try with tomcat, and I will wait for a comfortable installer 64-bit
systems.

Thank you for all,

Andrea
