Hi guys,
I entered this query in my web browser:
http://localhost:8080/geoserver/wfs?request=getfeature&service=wfs&version=1.0.0&typename=topp:lagosisland&filter=<ogc:Filter xmlns:ogc=“http://ogc.org” xmlns:gml=“http://www.opengis.net/gml”>ogc:BBOXogc:PropertyNamethe_geom</ogc:PropertyName><gml:Box srsName=“http://www.opengis.net/gml/srs/epsg.xml#26331”>gml:coordinates713065,544361 713482,544766</gml:coordinates></gml:Box></ogc:BBOX></ogc:Filter>
and I got the following error:
<?xml version="1.0" ?>
I don’t know what the problem could be. I have checked postgis to see if the feature type lagosisland exist. It does.
I have tried other queries on this featuretype and they worked. For example
http://localhost:8080/geoserver/wfs?request=getfeature&service=wfs&version=1.0.0&typename=topp:lagosisland&filter=<ogc:Filter xmlns:ogc=“http://ogc.org” xmlns:gml=“http://www.opengis.net/gml”>layerEXPRESSWAY</ogc:Filter>
I am just learning how to use OGC filters.
Thanks in advance.
Roman

Hi Roman,
It would help if you could send us the entire stack trace. When you make
the request can you watch your console log and include that. Thanks.
Also, you may wish to try out "cql" filters. They are a nice alternative
to the complicated xml syntax of ogc filters. Here are some (somewhat
incomplete) docs with examples:

Hi Roman,
If you are running in tomcat the log should be located under
"logs/catalina.out". If you could include the relevant part of it that
would be great.

Hum, I tried your request and I got a slightly different error, but I think I know what's going on. When you paste the above request
in a browser such as Firefox, most chars in the ogc filter get
escaped, but not "#" which stays the same (don't exactly know why).
# is a special character to the http standard, and you cannot use it
directly, it has to be escaped to %23 instead (see http://www.december.com/html/spec/esccodes.html), otherwise the web
server will interpret is as a separator and the filter that gets
into GeoServer is just a truncated version of what you pasted.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Andrea
