The GeoVISTA Center at Penn State University had the need for a Flash/Flex client mapping API. So about 8-12 months ago I had ported a portion of the OpenLayers code from JavaScript to ActionScript 3. This code supports WMS, WMS-C, and WFS layers along with some of the OpenLayers controls, such as PanZoomBar and MousePosition. We thought it would be proper to release this code back to the open source community. I have created a project for the code at http://code.google.com/p/flexlayers/ . On this project site, in addition to the source code, there are links to two live demos.
