Hi all,
just wanted to let you know we released a open source data directory with a full setup for rendering
OSM-like maps, along with a tutorial on how to setup GeoServer, grab the fonts and

Hi Andrea!
That is fantastic news. And just what I have been trying to build.
I have all the components, a brand new Geoserver 2.16 and a brand new PostGis database. And FME for data shuffling.
The problem has been OSM data transfer. And styling, but I never got to that.
However, I am running all this on a Windows Server. And have no access to any Linux machine. So I am back at square one.
Hälsning / Regards

Hi Mats, the instructions are mostly OS agnostic, but imposm still requires a Linux machine to
run for the data import. This page shows how to run it on a Linux machine and then move the dump on the Windows one: https://github.com/geosolutions-it/osm-styles/tree/master/imposm
I did not try, but imposm might also work in the Windows Subsystem for Linux, if anyone wants to give it a spin
and document a working setup, it would be a nice contribution for the osm-styles repository.
Cheers
Andrea

Totally agreed !!! Thanks Andrea et al.!

Mats, please try to sneak in a secret (Debian) Linux Server somewhere, you will have to learn some new tricks but having some Linux knowledge is really a plus nowadays when you want to run geo-services of some kind. It's just 'easier' to run most tool chains, really
These kind of things are super easy to 'outsource' to providers like Hetzner where you have a superbig machien for 40 euro's per month.
Serving this kind of 'reference'-maps can be placed outside of your normal IT environment easier. If you put all on that one server AND serve from it.
I do both OS's at clients, at in my experience Linux is just .... easier (don't dare to say better here... but I think it is).
