Does anyone have experience using Oracle profiles with GeoServer?
For the past month we’ve been seeing occasional high load on our SDE server and it’s been difficult to identify the particular SDE jobs to kill…
So we thought we’d try assigning the SDE user that GeoServer uses to connect to Oracle a profile and limit the cpu_per_call…to have Oracle terminate a call that’s goes on “too long”…
Experimenting, and wondering if anyone else has done so…
Hi Aleda,
no experience with Oracle Profiles, but just wondering if that high cpu usage may have something to be with those very large vector datasets you have? or aren't being really used?
There was a result count issue I fixed recently [1] that perharps is involved on this.
Cheers,
Gabriel

OpenGeo - http://opengeo.org
Expert service straight from the developers.
We're trying to see if we can nail it down to one datalayer.
First we've blocked all the robots and crawlers to try to reduce the
traffic.
I know we did have a few datalayers with large numbers of vertices, but
we simplified and replaced those.
On http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOT-2355, what version of GeoServer
will that make it into?
Maybe this will take care of it once we upgrade...

1.7.4, but should be already there for a recent nightly.
Best regards,
Gabriel
