Hi,
I am using the rest configuration to PUT a zipped shapefiles to the server
and it works the first time I do it but I get an error saying "error in
opening zip file" the 2nd time I attempt to upload.
The URL I am uploading to is
/geoserver/rest/workspaces/maps/datastores/uk/file.shp and looking at the
API reference, using PUT here will either create or overwrite files for the
datastore. So I assume calling it a 2nd time should upload the files again
to overwrite the existing files? One thing I did notice was in the
\data_dir\data\uk folder the file uk.shp had changed to uk.shp.zip the 2nd
time I uploaded the files.

Hi, confirmed, this is a bug. Could you fire it in the bug tracker on jira.codehaus.org? I should be able to fix it relatively soon so you can grab a nightly build to try out the fix.
Thanks,
