[Geoserver-users] Performance WMS vs. WCS

Hi,
I have a raster photo (Orthophoto) that I would like to present with a Mapserver. The question for me is, which service is the most suitable for it - either WMS or WCS?

And which of the these two services (WMS,WCS) is the best for the performance?

What would you recommend?

The WMS is definitely more natural, since there are basically
no WCS clients around, about which is the best performing, I don't
know, yet WMS has been tuned for performance, not sure about WCS.

WMS serves maps to humans, WCS serves data to computers. It depends on what
you want to do. If you want to present your photo on a website, then WMS is
the way to go, if you want to make it available to a GIS, then WCS is what
you use.
