I did a quick smoke test of the war on tomcat 7 (on my Linux laptop). I see
Version
2.7.5
Git Revision

Build Date

GeoTools Version
13.5 (rev 2046ab12ba9f686048a384ed488eaf5fa457355b)
GeoWebCache Version
1.7.3 (rev

Checked layer preview looked OK for each of the data sets. I checked
openlayers for each, and a couple of other formats along the way.
I added the CSW and WCS-EO extensions and verified that the server looks OK and
that CSW GetCapabilities works.
Checked GetCapabilities works for WCS 2.0.1, TMS, WMS-C, WMTS.
Looks good.

Installed the following plugins

* Libjpeg turbo
* jdbc config (caused an error: Dec 21, 2015 12:29:27 PM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader clearReferencesJdbc
SEVERE: The web application [/geoserver] registered the JDBC driver [org.hsqldb.jdbc.JDBCDriver] but failed to unregister it when the web application was stopped. To prevent a memory leak, the JDBC Driver has been forcibly unregistered.) I deleted the plugin and the Geoserver started.

Looks good to me, Ian.
Using openjdk-8-jdk 8u72-b05-5 amd64 on debian/unstable, running the bin-zip embedded Jetty, I tested several layer previews and demo requests and nothing seemed out of place.
Kind regards,
Ben.
