[Geoserver-users] power needed?

Hello

I was curious about how “big” a machine should be to run a web-gis application comfortably…
In my job I am learning (totally in my own) how to build a mapping website using Tomcat, GeoSever, OpenLayers and PostGIS (windows XP), but I dont have administrator rights with my employee account so I had some problems… I thought of giving the whole thing a try in my own laptop, even if it was with just a few datasets

I would appreciate any suggestions that help me decide to install or not

cheers,
Virginia.

The power needed really depends on how big the datasets you need to
display are.
Generally speaking, just make sure that you have at least 1GB memory
and you have Java 6 installed, and you should be able to work
with the demo datasets even on some older machine (3-4 years old).
