Hi everybody.
I have a coordinate grid layer in Geoserver in *4326* SRS. When I
previsualize it, it’s all right (attached *good.jpg*):
http://localhost:8080/geoserver/cite/wms?service=WMS&version=1.0.0&request=GetMap&layers=cite:
*ne_10m_graticules_1*
&styles=&Bbox=-50,10,50,60.0&width=660&height=330&crs=EPSG:*4326*
&format=application/openlayers
<http://localhost:8080/geoserver/cite/wms?service=WMS&version=1.0.0&request=GetMap&layers=cite:ne_10m_graticules_1&styles=&Bbox=-50,10,50,60.0&width=660&height=330&crs=EPSG:4326&format=application/openlayers>
But when I try to visualize in a different SRS (*4258*, por example) some
of the longitude lines (meridians) disappear (attached *bad.jpg*):
http://localhost:8080/geoserver/cite/wms?service=WMS&version=1.0.0&request=GetMap&layers=cite:
*ne_10m_graticules_1*
&styles=&Bbox=-50,10,50,60.0&width=660&height=330&crs=EPSG:*4258*
&format=application/openlayers
<http://localhost:8080/geoserver/cite/wms?service=WMS&version=1.0.0&request=GetMap&layers=cite:ne_10m_graticules_1&styles=&Bbox=-50,10,50,60.0&width=660&height=330&crs=EPSG:4258&format=application/openlayers>
Any idea what’s happening?
I believe the graticule is defined only by its extreme points, which means
the meridians touch the pole?
When you reproject them these same points are going over the pole and
getting "strange" coordinates
as a result, which is likely what's causing them to disappear from the map.
There is some improvements in GeoServer 2.6.0 to handle datum shift issues,
but we mostly worked on
what happens to geometries that end up crossing the dateline due to the
shift, don't think we worked
on cutting/extending meridians to deal pole cross-over
Cheers
Andrea
