[Geoserver-users] problem with Http Authentication configuration!!!

Hi All,

I'm facing problem in creating an Http Authentication for the geoserer. If
anyone knows how to set the Basic Authentication in Geoserver that would be
helpful.

My basic requirement is when user clicks on Geoserver URL it should pop-up
Http Authentication window to enter Username and Password. The same thing i
was able to configure in Tomcat but not in Geoserver.

If anyone could help in this regard it would be great [:)]

Hi Ravi,

Here is some info about setting up basic authentication for services and data with GeoServer.

http://geoserver.org/display/GEOSDOC/2.6+Security+subsystem

Gathering the credentials via a form or some other mechanism and setting the Authorization header is up to the client.
