[Geoserver-users] Provide a "footprint" mask for a raster coverage/layer? [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

Hi!

I’m serving up an ECW file which unfortunately doesn’t have transparency so I get a chunk of while “fill” area around the outside.

Is it possible to mask this out somehow?

I spotted the footprint stuff for the Image Mosaic plugin but I couldn’t spot anything on how to do this for a plain old raster (ECW) data source?

Thanks heaps!

Hi Simon,

Right now the imageMosaic is the only raster format which provides advanced capabilities such as transparency management, masking, background values, … Anyway, you can setup a mosaic of any other “basic” raster format data.

Therefore, you may consider setting up a mosaic made of your ECW data and use the ImageMosaic capabilities:

http://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/tutorials/imagemosaic_footprint/imagemosaic_footprint.html

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Daniele
