Is there a list of example Geoserver sites either in development or production
that are available to the public? I thought I remember seeing someone from the
Geoserver team trying to put this together. I'm trying to get our group to
consider Geoserver development and I need some examples to demonstrate its
capabilities; both simple and robust. If there's not a list, can folks post
back some URL's?
Like what? Something that shows maps?
I've been meaning to create a post on the list for everyone to explain
how they use Geoserver. If its popular, then post some links on the
wiki?
I remember that a while back David wanted to know how people utilized
Geoserver. Unfortunately, I was late to respond to his request. Maybe
better late than never...

Hmm, it appears that the udig site is down as well. Probably a related issue. Lets ask the udig list.
Udiggers, is the geoserver instance on the rackmount still publically available.

Ok, here is us then:
First of all, we use the WCS branch, and I want to recognise Simone
and Allesio for their hard work on making the WCS implementation a
reality.
1) At the RMRS fire chemstry unit in Missoula,MT we use Geoserver to
generate daily maps that show detected fires from the MODIS instrument
on the Aqua and Terra satellites, along with the rasters from the
satellite passes. Daily map can be viewed here:
http://smoke-fire.us/img/new_map.png
The map is generated several times a day, whenever we get a daily
satellite pass above us.
2) We also utilize Geoserver to display weather forecast data. We also
display aerosol data, primarily known pollutants. I used and modified
quickWMS for this frontend, with some modifications to suit our needs.
Anyway, comments and suggestions are much welcome, since this is
obviously still a development page. Ignore the "links" on the top
menu, I was just playing with the layout.
http://smoke-fire.us:8080/geoserver/data/quickWMS/alex_devel.jsp
The dataset there is a case study that our chemist needed to show, in
case you are wondering why this is an old forecast.
Alex
Awesome, thanks Alex.
I just added a few new pages to the wiki, which would be an ideal place
for people to post such things. I kicked it off with what you wrote
here Alex, feel free to update it as appropriate:
http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOSDOC/Gallery
And please, everyone else, put a little blurb up if you've got a running
GeoServer that people can try out. Ccing a few more people as I think
they have stuff up or are working on nice implementations.
I also added two sort of 'end user' sections:
http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOSDOC/Use+Narrative
For blog like entries of what you're doing with GeoServer. These can be
super informal, rough notes even, but this kind of knowledge can be
incredibly valuable to new users trying to get started, for ideas of
what is possible, and for hints and tricks on getting things actually
working. It's one of the easiest ways to contribute back to the
GeoServer Project, since it's just writing about whatever you did with
it.
http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOSDOC/End+User+Tutorials is for those
who want to make a bit more of a substantial contribution, or who just
don't like the informal blog style. These should be step by step how
tos on getting some aspect of GeoServer working with clients, be they
web or desktop.
thanks everyone, it's exciting to see this stuff, as us developers
generally have no idea of the cool things people are doing with
GeoServer.

I would like to see how other people use Geoserver.
Even if you just have a static map, I (and I am sure others) would
very much like to see it.
