[Geoserver-users] Q: enforce bbox/extent in geoserver wms

Hi,

Is it possible to enforce viewing a particular (bbox) extent within a GS
WMS Layer ?

That is: I have feature data covering the entire Netherlands, but for this
layer I only need to serve a particular (inner) bbox without showing data
outside of that bbox. I can set a bbox in the FeatureType Editor, but GS
always will serve the according to the extent of the dataset not the
(inner) bbox. (btw UMN MapServer will do the same). thanks,

I believe the WMS specs demand it.

If you have a client that can do tiling you can use the built-in GeoWebCache. It will just serve the same, transparent PNG for anything falling outside the bounds.
