[Geoserver-users] Questions

I have a couple of questions for you about GeoServer. First question is how the heck do I identify the version I’m running? Second question is I’m trying to load NIMA ADRG map files without any luck. Is that format supported? If so, what raster data source do I select?

Rick,

on the home page of your GeoServer instance, select the About GeoServer link in the left-hand column. This will give you detailed version information for GeoServer and the GeoWebCache and GeoTools versions against which it was built (also contained in GeoServer). It should look like this:

******

About GeoServer

General information about GeoServer

     Build Information
         Version 2.4.1
         Git Revision 2bd0f71f9d0037e6f92a9fd639f0c93200f4b4f7
         Build Date 21-Oct-2013 01:44
         GeoTools Version 10.1 (rev 568b187de57623f5962225d965de67d070e9d941)
         GeoWebCache Version 1.5.0 (rev 1.5.x/f981cafd349886bb2a1ef45067f26b1aa8e4aff4)

******

If a deployed GeoServer is not running, you can look in its WEB-INF/lib directory; all the JAR file names contain their versions gs- prefix ones for GeoServer (although older ones will lack this) gs-main-2.5.1.jar or main-2.2.3.jar, and gt- for GeoTools, like gt-main-10.6.jar. If you see any SNAPSHOT versions, it means you are running a nightly build; it will take a bit more to figure out which one (there are also files containing revision information included inside WAR and JAR files).

Kind regards,
Ben.

ADRG is not supported out of the box, theoretically we can support it via
GDAL, but some code
should be written to enable GeoServer to see the ADRG format (basically for
each format
we need a bunch of new support classes, it's a small amount of work for a
Java coder normally).

Cheers
Andrea

Rick,

please keep discussions on-list.

You might have quite an old version of GeoServer. Can you please find the GeoServer WEB-INF/lib directory and send us a list of the jar files it contains? It should be in webapps directory of your servlet container (e.g. Tomcat). This will help us identify the version of GeoServer. If there is a file main-X.Y.Z.jar, then the version is GeoServer X.Y.Z.

Kind regards,
Ben.

Ben there isn't an About GeoServer link in the left-hand column. I have an "About & Status" title as the first thing in the left hand column but it isn't a link. It's just text. Under that I have links for Server Status, GeoServer Logs, and Contact Information.

Rick,

Under the “About & Status” header should be a link to “About GeoServer” and looks like the picture below (or attached). If this link doesn’t exist, I surmise you have a fairly old GeoServer installation and the instructions Ben provided will be the best way to determine the version.
