[Geoserver-users] [Re: OGC OpenLS Implementation?]

Hi David, geoserver-users,

Yes, Andrew Hughes did an excellent job implementing the OpenLS spec and Lisasoft would like to roll it into Geoserver.
We are just looking for a paid project or similar which will justify our developer's time supporting and migrating the code. I'm open to suggestions.

Hey Cameron!

You've probably seen this mail anyway and I'm not too sure of how much interest this could be for LISAsoft, but well maybe it is and maybe you have overlooked it. This is Azza's response to an mail to the Geoserver mailing list:

Hi David,

I wrote a (Java5+) API for the complete OLS 1.1 spec when I was working for LISAsoft/TerraPages.

http://terrapages.net/opengis-api/

It works excellent, is very simple to use, its fast and it is the complete OLS spec! I can no longer speak on behalf of the company but if nothing has changed, then it is not 'officially' opensourced because no one has adopted it for one reason....

This is the complete OLS spec nothing less and nothing MORE. Specifically if you want to add your own custom content (xml element or attibute), this " Extensibile" functionality is not provided. There is merit to such a requirement but it is also additional complexity that is holding up what would otherwise be an easy (and now working) service implementation.

And FYI: I also co-wrote the service implementations, and clients that use these services. It's amazing how much value you can get out of this specification when its so easy to use!

Anyway, the LISAsoft boys are working pretty closely with Geoserver these days and they should notice this thread.
