[Geoserver-users] Re: Transparant background of WMS using Geoserver/Google Maps & Drupal Gmap module

All-new Yahoo! Mail - Fire up a more powerful email and get things done faster.

Oh cool. I was trying to figure out what that method did before, as it didn't seem to matter much, but I was just looking on firefox. Looks like we should do a 1.0.2, right after I finally put up 1.0.1. If either of you, theo or eduin, can update the 1.0.1 with this fix I can put up a new version (and promise I'll do it faster :slight_smile:

thanks,

Chris

Hi,

Regarding this IE/PNG transparency error I found that adding the following line in the googlemaps js code solved the problem:

tileCountry.isPng = function() { return true; };

Note that 'tileCountry' is a GTileLayer object.

    Hello folks.

    Yes Chris, please update my changes to the script at
    http://dist.codehaus.org/geoserver/gmaps-geoserver_scripts/wms-gs-1_0_1.js.
    At
    the moment it is posted here: http://sig.cas.gov.co/misc/wms-gs-1_0_1.js

    Some users had reported strange behaviours with the old
    wms-gs-1_0_0.js and the
    latest commits of gmap module.

    Regarding to PNG transparency... nothing to do. Versions previous to
    IE7.x do
    not support that thing. Some people had exploited a function of
    IE6.x called
    "filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader" to get
    it work
    using javascript, (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/bobosola/) .
    Voluntaries to
    include it into wms-gs-x.js are welcomed. In a ideal world all our
    users would
    use Firefox, the best navigator. But this day is so far.

    I will review gmap/wms module code next weekend to trace possible
    errors.
