[Geoserver-users] Read only error when editing a WFS-T

Dear all,

I have a WFS-T layer in Geoserver from a PostGIS table with the Primary Key (serial column thatr the user doi not modify)

I start to edit the layer from a Computer A using openlayers and Geoserver WFS-T and it run with no problem

After if I try to edit using a different computer and I see the read-only exception...

I encountered the problem after a truncate on the PostGIS table....

Thanks in advanced,

R

Ciao Roberto,
was the truncate the only thing happening between the two edits?

Another reason for read-only feature types is column types that GeoServer
does not understand (as an example, hstore), if they are there editing
will be disallowed since the code does not know how to write on them

Cheers
Andrea

Ciao Andrea

No. I also edit the layer with the first computer using the openlayers client… The column type are integer and varchar. The strange behaviour is that the layer seem editable only from a PC using openlayers. Using a different pc and the same client I have the error, while using QGIS the WFS do not seem editable. But the workspace is allowed for WFS-T…

That’s weird… unless there is some IP specific security enabled (like, GeoFence I believe can do something like that).
Or it could be the request that’s different, change the web.xml to enable logging requests and request bodies (there
is a filter doing that) and see if the requests are different in any significant way

That’s weird… unless there is some IP specific security enabled (like, GeoFence I believe can do something like that).
Or it could be the request that’s different, change the web.xml to enable logging requests and request bodies (there
is a filter doing that) and see if the requests are different in any significant way

Cheers

No. I also edit the layer with the first computer using the openlayers client…

Another reason for read-only feature types is column types that GeoServer

will be disallowed since the code does not know how to write on them

The column type are integer and varchar.

Ciao Roberto,
was the truncate the only thing happening between the two edits?

No. I also edit the layer with the first computer using the openlayers client…

Another reason for read-only feature types is column types that GeoServer
does not understand (as an example, hstore), if they are there editing
will be disallowed since the code does not know how to write on them

The column type are integer and varchar.

The strange behaviour is that the layer seem editable only from a PC using openlayers. Using a different pc and the same client I have the error, while using QGIS the WFS do not seem editable. But the workspace is allowed for WFS-T…

Cheers

Dear all,

I have a WFS-T layer in Geoserver from a PostGIS table with the Primary
Key (serial column thatr the user doi not modify)

I start to edit the layer from a Computer A using openlayers and
Geoserver WFS-T and it run with no problem

After if I try to edit using a different computer and I see the
read-only exception…

I encountered the problem after a truncate on the PostGIS table…

Probably you had logged in to the admin console yesterday in the same browser you were running OpenLayers in, while on the other machine and in QGis you were not logged in and so were prevented from editing as an anonymous user.

That’s weird… unless there is some IP specific security enabled (like, GeoFence I believe can do something like that).
Or it could be the request that’s different, change the web.xml to enable logging requests and request bodies (there
is a filter doing that) and see if the requests are different in any significant way

Cheers

Ciao Roberto,
was the truncate the only thing happening between the two edits?

No. I also edit the layer with the first computer using the openlayers client…

Another reason for read-only feature types is column types that GeoServer
does not understand (as an example, hstore), if they are there editing
will be disallowed since the code does not know how to write on them

The column type are integer and varchar.

The strange behaviour is that the layer seem editable only from a PC using openlayers. Using a different pc and the same client I have the error, while using QGIS the WFS do not seem editable. But the workspace is allowed for WFS-T…

Cheers
Andrea
