[Geoserver-users] RedHat startup script for Geoserver?

All,

Has anyone created a startup script on RedHat (or any other distribution that uses the init.d startup scheme) for the GeoServer binary download? By this I mean a script appropriate for /etc/init.d – I’m aware of the wrapper script startup.sh which is not appropriate for init.d. Is anyone running GeoServer in production on Linux?

Thanks,
Corey

Not that I know--the fedora server we use is always on. Are you volunteering?

Is anyone running

Yes, I believe quite a few people on this list are, me included.

Not in production, but, yes I run Geoserver on Fedora Core 3.
As far as the startup script is concerned, I just use Jetty wrapper scripts (with Geoserver as webapp).

Anyway, if you're serious about daemon scripts, take a look at: http://wrapper.tanukisoftware.org/doc/english/introduction.html
(it is simpler to use than it looks).

Looks like some one has already got geoserver working with tanuki. We
just need to roll it in. If you'd like to see it in, go ahead and
'vote' for the issue. It'd also be helpful if you were to download
what that contributor did, test it for working with redhat, and give us
feedback as a comment on the issue. It's easier to roll fixes in when
multiple people have tried them out.

best regards,

Chris
