I have geoserver running great locally under windows but now want to install it remotely on a linux server. I can install and start running it fine but then when I try and log-in remotely from a browser I cannot (times out). I try and get in to the webmin page http://localhost:8080/geoserver using lynx as I assume it needs to compile the admin pages so I can change access password before I log-in but lynx just seems to hang.
Anyone have experience with a remote install where there is no access to the desktop?
thanks
Mike
Hi Michael,
I have successfully done this before and had it work fine. Does your
browser hang when you go directly to the welcome page:
http://localhost:8080/geoserver/welcome.do.
Also, i assume you are using lynx connecting locally from the server. Do
you get the same result when you try to access the webapp from another
machine on the network?

Hi Michael,
I have successfully done this before and had it work fine.
Me too, could be there be any firewall issues?
