Hi all,
I am desinging (and hopefully implement) an Atlas portal.
I wil use postgis and Geoserver as my central framework but I am not sure about the final implementation of the portal.
I would like the portal support functionalities:
WMS queries
WFS queries
WCS queries
dynamic add/remove layers
zoom in/out,
pan,
distance measurement
etc
download capabilities (shapefile, kml, etc)
From a draft search I think my options narrowed to:
Mapbuilder, Mapbender, (Ka-Map?), iGeoPortal
Does anyone has a suggestion or a comment, (even a commercial solution )?
PS : I know this question is irelevant with Geoserver, but I will need the experience of the experts …
Thnx
George

Open layers has a nice tile-based viewer, but has limited WFS functionality. MapBuilder will have tiling (if not already, I have seen it do it quite well in a demo) and it also supports WFS. There is also MapBender that is written in PHP and is quite robust.
I'm not sure if they supports any WCS calls however.
The three have different styles of code:
Open layers is straight javascript and is very easy to use.
MapBuilder is javascript and XML, and some XSLT. It is a little harder to learn but not all that difficult.
MapBender is written in PHP and is definitely worth a look at.
I would suggest trying out each one, and seeing if they implement what you need, or will implement what you need in the near future.

Hi all,
Thank you for your answers.
Open layers seems promising and may be if I combine it with some jsp
(for creating dynamic WxS queries) it would produce a professional result.
But also a quite good solution may be the MapBuilder (again with some jsp)
thx
