[Geoserver-users] Running geoserver with IP address instead of localhost

Hi,

I've just installed geoserver and started some experiments with WFS. Right
now I'm running WFS locally with address of localhost and port 8080. e.g

http://localhost:8080/geoserver/wfs?request=GetCapabilities&service=WFS&version=1.0.0

If I want to access this WFS remotely say with IP address 10.129.13.8, so
address would be

http://10.129.13.8:8080/geoserver/wfs?request=GetCapabilities&service=WFS&version=1.0.0

But I'm not able to access WFS remotely with this address. Can anyone tell
me the configuration to be made for accessing geoserver functionalities
from remote machine?

Hi Sanket,

There should be no additional GeoServer configuration necessary (unless you are going through a proxy). The only configuration should be with regard to your network, and any firewalls thats is setup. Basically make sure that there are no firewalls on the client or server blocking traffic on port 8080.

And of course ensure the client can indeed see the server via the specified ip address. A quick ping of the server from the client should verify that part.
