[Geoserver-users] SHP with JDBC -- Extended datastore

Is there any support for shape files that rely to a JDBC connection for its attributes? I mean, shp-files that have their data stored on JDBC-accessible database. Actual implementation have data stored on dbf files, and I'm wondering if this can extended to generic JDBC-accessible database..... Is there any support or future directions for this ? If not, can you guide me for a possible implementation (where can I start, and so on) ?

Any help are welcome. 10x in advance.

Cross-datastore joins are a target for the new "General Feature Model" work underway. How far that target is away at the moment is under discussion, but its definitely in the pipeline. Contributing test cases would be a good start. I'll leave it to the code architects to explain how far we are away...
