Hi Yi
try to put the ttf-files into the font directory of the JRE, e.g. /usr/java/jre1.6.0_03/lib/fonts/ and write the whole path into the SLD file, e.g. /usr/java/jre1.6.0_03/lib/fonts/CadasIta.ttf (I think this is linux specific and not necessery on windows machines).
regards
Stefan

Betreff: [Geoserver-users] SLD – Setting does not work
Hi all,
I’m new to this mailing list.
While I set font-family/font-style/font-size in my SLD file, the change does not take any effect. (The map will always show the default font).
I can change other categories such as color/width/fill and so on, even the in .
I tried to uninstall and install java and geoserver but it won’t help.
I’m running FC linux x64.
Does anyone know why is this happening?
Please drop a line if you have any hint.
Thank you,
Yi
Yep,
that worked for me anyway. There are some complicated instructions how to make windows (or some other) fonts to work in Linux, but at least in order to make them available in Geoserver you can do like Stefan wrote. I am running Centos.

Thank you guys.
I solved the problem earlier by specify the correct font family in SLDs.
Basically linux doesn’t support things like “times new roman”.
Thanks,
Yi

No it doesn’t but if you need to use it in Geoserver, just do it the way Stefan told. It’s the easiest way, I think.
cheers,
