[Geoserver-users] textsysmbolizers near tile border are not displayed

Hi, in my tiles some textsymbolizers are missing. Always when they are very
near the border of the tile.

i played around with buffer from 5 to 50 but nothing changed. If i switch to
a point-style, i can see those adresses as dots. so it is no data error.

https://osm.wno-edv-service.de/geoserver/wms?SERVICE=WMS&REQUEST=GetMap&VERSION=1.1.1&LAYERS=osm%3Aadressen&STYLES=&FORMAT=image%2Fpng8&TRANSPARENT=true&HEIGHT=256&WIDTH=256&BUFFER=12&TIMEOUT=300&EXCEPTIONS=application%2Fvnd.ogc.se_inimage&SRS=EPSG%3A3857&BBOX=901651.185651939,6465196.726416778,901804.0597085094,6465349.600473348

the upper left one and one on the very right border are missing, if i switch
to TextSymbolizer.

Any hints?

regards
walter

Search the archives, the topic has been discussed many times over the years.

The short answer is, we don't draw them because there is no guarantee the
other half of the label
will show up in the nearby tile, due to conflict resolution.
If you are happy risking to have cut labels, or can ensure there won't be,
you can use the "partials"
vendor option (I believe you need 2.7.x for that one):

i'm not happy but i need the complete labels, that's all.
Now knowing what is going on, i'll convert my labels to images and hope
everything will be fine.
that are housenumbers, which will generate quite small images like icons.

Thanks
walter

btw: any idea how to convert text to image in geoserver? otherwise i'll use
external programs like inkscape

If you don't care about overlapping labels, you can also disable conflict
resolution,
with both of them you'll have the labels painted always, but eventually
overlapping
(which is the same result as making them into images, just a lot less work):
