[Geoserver-users] The lines rendered using the sld are disjoint(primary , secondary, tertiary under the map feature highway)

I have written an sld to visualize the lines of the osm data of hamburg which I have converted to postgis format using osm2pgsql and then imported this postgis data into geoserver. The sld is styled to render the map feature:- highway(roads) with all its principle tags which works fine and can been seen but there are some roads for example secondary roads (August-Krogmann-Straße,Berner Chaussee Kirchwerder Landweg) etc to name a few which seem to be rendered incomplete i.e. they appear like disjoint line with some parts missing at all zoom levels(like dash array lines) instead of a continuous line. And there are no errors in the log file of the geoserver, no tile caching error and no java errors. I have tried using different sld’s(online Github) but still this problem exists.
I need to know whether my sld has an error or the osm data availability itself is that much .

Windows 7 , Java 1.7 , PostgreSql 9.4 , windows installer(Geoserver)
osm2pgsql and default style file http://learnosm.org/en/osm-data/osm2pgsql/
osm data in pbf format http://download.geofabrik.de/europe/germany/hamburg.html

osm_highway.sld (25 KB)

default.style (5.88 KB)

Do you have a small screenshot of the problem?

If you use a simple line style, are the lines connected? If so, try to
click on the bits that
are missing in the other view and see if their attribute match what you
have in the database,
it might just be that the style is incomplete

Hi

The lines seem to be not connected even when I use simple line sld , I have attached the screen image of the map rendered using sld designed by me , the darker thick grey lines are the ones which are not connected.

Hi Darshan,
definitely not connected in yours, but I cannot say for sure on the simple line case, I don’t see the
same type of holes and the area in the screenshot is different.

Could you make a GetMap request on exactly the same area, but with the two different styles, in order to allow a side by side comparison?

Also try to check your data with a different tool, e.g., qgis, and see if the gaps show up there too

Cheers
Andrea

The lines are clearly connected in the unstiled case, I believe your SLD is missing some highway category.
You can find which ones by clickling on the missing links in the simple blue line style version, in the preview,
and inspect their attributes
