But I don’t know why my geoserver Layer preview doesn’t work…
For information, I try to test geoserver installed on debian (guest virtual box) and my PostGis data is on host (windows 7)

Is it OK ? is there any difference between catalina_opts and java_opts ?
They are used in different places, but for your purposes they should be equivalent.
Can you open a terminal, run this command:
ps -lfe | grep java
…and share the output? We should be able to confirm that Tomcat actually picked up your custom options by looking at the command run by the startup script.

You can add it in your setenv.sh script as well.
I may solve my blank layer preview problem…
If you have other advice to optimize geoserver, don’t hesitate to say !
