[Geoserver-users] Upgrade 2.2 to 2.3.2

Hello,

I made an upgrade from 2.2 to a version 2.3.2 this migration kept
the users but changed in one way or an other the passwords.

Is there a way to recover the passwords ?

Best regards,

Eric Smets

Eric,
if I’m not mistaken during the installation procedure geoserver creates a new file “masterpw.info” in the webapps\geserver\data\security directory (take a look at the creation date). Probably you can log in in the GUI with that.

Michele

Hi Michele,

It seems, but I delete some time ago the masterpw.info and wrote this file down.
But the passwoords seems to be changed, as a result I can not login in the GUI.

Al the other files seems OK to me, the data directory was form the 2.2.0 series.
There is only one version of geoserver running (2.3.2)

regards,

Eric

Hi Eric,
as you can read here

http://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/datadirectory/migrating.html

there should not be any issues except for some configuration file.
Have you got a shared geoserver data directory?

Cheers
Michele

If you want to have plain passwords you have to change the password encoder for the default user group service and recode the passwords. (Can be done from the GUI).
