Hi list,
I tried to find documentation on updating from 1.5.1 to 1.5.2. Nothing in the README.txt or the RUNNING.txt files, but I found this on the wiki: http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOSDOC/Upgrade+Tutorial+Binary
But I think the documentation is incomplete. Copying the data dir not enough, right? I tried copying the services.xml and catalog.xml files as well as indicated in the following documentation (even if I have the bin install, not the War one) but it does not work.
http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOSDOC/Upgrade+Tutorial+War+file
Is there any complete documentation on how to upgrade that I haven't found?
Thanks a lot,
Alex

Copying the data dir is on a binary installation is basically enough, you just have to properly point at the right data directory. http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOSDOC/3+GeoServer+Data+Directory has a bit more information. If you have a war information you need to make sure that it's a proper 'geoserver data directory', namely including the services.xml and catalog.xml files.
But I agree we should have a more coherent 'how to upgrade geoserver' document.
