[Geoserver-users] Upgrading geoserver

Hi everyone,

I have been using geoserver 1.5.1 and I intend to
upgrade to geoserver 1.5.4. I have a lot of registered
postgis feature types, when upgrading will I have to
register them again ?

Hi,

The usual aproach to this is to have a data directory separated from the actual geoserver webapp.
http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOSDOC/4+GeoServer+Data+Directory

If you have a separated data dir then, all you'd have to do is to point your brand new geoserver to your old data_dir

If you havent, then move away your old data directory to a safe place and make it your separated data dir by pointing your brand new geoserver to the old data_dir.
