Hi all,
this is a request to all GeoServer users to share an opinion about
the future of GeoServer.
Java 7 has reached its end of life in May 2015 and there will be no more
publicly available releases of it, which in partiular means, no more security fixes.
OpenJDK does not seem to be releasing new versions either.
The developer group would thus switch the new development branch of
GeoServer, which will result in the GeoServer 2.9.0 release in March 2016,
to Java 8 as the minimum supported version
(aka, the only supported versions, we only have developer resources to keep one version
in check).
