[Geoserver-users] Using geometry (not point, line, poly) data type in PostGIS causes geoserver to output all features as polygon

Hello everyone,
I have a quick question about geoserver and the geometry data type in PostGIS. We’re using the geometry data type in PostGIS, in which you can store points, lines and polygons in one table. Geoserver seems to have no issues connecting to this table but seems to convert all geometries to type polygon for WFS output.
Has anyone else experienced this and is there a way to get the geometry to output as its actual geometry type?

Thanks for any help with this…

Have you put the "GEOMETRY" keyword in your 'geometry_columns' table in the appropriate row/column?
