[Geoserver-users] Using THREDDS as a coverage data store for geoserver?

Hi.

The TREDDS server https://www.unidata.ucar.edu/projects/THREDDS/ have the capabilities to produce WCS layers in GeoTIFF format, but the the produced file can’t be styled.

Example: http://motherlode.ucar.edu:8080/thredds/wcs/galeon/global/testdata/GFS_Global_0p5deg_20071113_0600.grib2?request=GetCoverage&version=1.0.0&service=WCS&coverage=Absolute_vorticity&format=GeoTIFF&width=409&height=550&srs=EPSG:4326&bbox=0,-90,359,90&time=2007-11-13T06:00:00Z&Vertical=10000

It should be very nice to have the possibilities to access any url producing geotiff images as an datastore via Geoserver

In that case the geographic metadata should be put in manually when the datastore is configured instead of related file as today.

Regards / Mikael

Hi Mikael,

I agree, this would be a pretty cool feature. I am not exactly sure what
would be involved. Wether it would just be an update to the geotiff
driver... or a completely different coverage plugin. I am sure the
coverage guru's will be able to provide more feedback.

Feel free to file a feature request in the tracker.
