[Geoserver-users] vanishing config files in 1.7 ?

Hi,

I'm testing 1.7 and I have the strange feeling that description.ftl, title.ftl files vanish while using Geoserver ... has somebody had the same experience ?

Cheers

Laurent

Hi Laurent,

Yes, others have seen the same thing happen, but not been able to reproduce it. Are you able to reproduce the problem? Or is it something that just happened randomly?

On 1.7.x, the feautreType directories are backed up. So you should be able to recover your files from the .bak counterparts.

Hi Laurent,

Apologies, i mis understood the problem. Yes this is an issue which occurs during saving. I have opened an issue report for this.

http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOS-2368

It will be fixed in 1.7.1. For the time being the files should be located in the .bak directory corresponding to the feature type. They are not totally lost so you can copy them back over every time you save.

Hi Justin,

Yes it happened randomly and it took time for me to figure out what happened ;). When you say 1.7.x you mean the future versions ?

Cheers

No, he also means 1.7.0. When you save the current feature type directory is stored as featuretypeName.bak.
Unfortunately, I guess that if you save twice in a row without checking,
the old backup gets wiped out to make place for the new one, and
your templates are gone for good.
