[Geoserver-users] Wfs serving real arcs instead of stroken arcs

Hi list,

In my data I have an arc geometry. From that data I make a wfs .
When I add the original data and the wfs data in the same map, there is a difference.
The original data is a real arc, the wfs data is a stroked.

Question:
Is it possible to serve a wfs with real arcs instead of stroked arcs?
If it is possible to do so, how can I achieve such a thing?
Or is the wfs-consumer / client responsible for this behaviour?

Thanks

I'm not sure I'm following you. Perhaps you can explain your specific
scenario in a bit more detail?

Can you say exactly what the source format is (i.e. what are you loading to
the geoserver store)?

Can you say what format you are requesting the WFS service to provide the
feature(s) in?

Can you be a bit more specific in explaining what you mean by "real" and
"stroked"?
By "stroked" do you mean the curve it made up of straight lines?

Brad

Hi,

I have never tried but there should be support for curves if you use PostGIS http://www.geo-solutions.it/blog/postgis-curves-in-geoserver/

There are a few conditions:

   1. A recent version of GeoServer that can handle curves (2.8.x onwards
should be good I believe, but I did not check)
   2. A data source that can do curves, Oracle or PostGIS
   3. A output format that can encode curves, which means GML 3 or GML 3.2
exclusively at the moment (no GML2, no JSON, no shapefiles)
   4. No reprojection involved in the request

Point 4 could eventually be lifted, and support for more data sources could
be implemented, pending resourcing/funding

Cheers

Hi
Based on your suggestions, I decided to download a complete new stack 4.8 from Boundless. And is seems to work in combination with Qgis 2.16.
So it can be done.

Thanks a lot for the quick response
