Hi,
I have a strange problem with geoserver 1.7.1 : I can't use WFS anymore even for a getCapabilities. Instead I get :
<ServiceExceptionReport version="1.2.0" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.opengis.net/ogc http://schemas.opengis.net/wfs/1.0.0/OGC-exception.xsd">
−
<ServiceException>
java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: org.apache.xml.utils.DefaultErrorHandler.<init>(Z)V
org.apache.xml.utils.DefaultErrorHandler.<init>(Z)V
</ServiceException>
</ServiceExceptionReport>
It's installed on Glassfish on Mac OS (Leopard).
Has anyboby an idea on that ?
Cheers
Laurent Pierre
Hi Laurent,
My guess is that there is a version of xalan somewhere in the glassfish container that is shared with all webapps. GeoServer also unpacks a version of xalan so the two are probably conflicting. This is a relatively common problem with Tomcat as well. I don;t know much about Glassfish so i am not exactly sure where the library would be.

Thanks Justin,
the funny thing is that it was still working 2 weeks before and I’m pretty sure I didn’t change anything in my config since then. And it works on my linux machine … .

What about:
- jdk upgrades
- glassfish upgrades
- deploy of other apps in the same container
- someone added other jars in a shared lib folder (Tomcat has one,
I guess Glassfish might have one as well?)
Cheers

Hi,
I resolved my problem with a new Glassfish version (Enterprise Server v3 Prelude). I still don’t understand why it went wrong but now it’s good.
Thanks for your interest.
