[Geoserver-users] Why there is FileNotFoundException when deploy a new geoserver.war?

Hi,

I want to change my geoserver from 1.4 to 1.5. GEOSERVER_DATA_DIR is out of webapp directory.
My steps,
1,remove whole directory of geoserver 1.4 under tomcat 5.0.28/webapps
2,drop geoserver 1.5.war to tomcat5.0.28/webapps which named geoserver.war exactly
3,restart tomcat
4,edit web-inf/web.xml add GEOSERVER_DATA_DIR parameter. It points to the data directory
5,restart tomcat
6,try to use

Unfortunately, Geoserver told me something like :
FileNotFoundException:null\styles***.properties not found
I even cannot create a new datastore.

How can I make it work with legacy data?

Hi Alex,

A 1.5.x data directory is supposed to be backward compatible with a 1.4.x... Would you be able to send us the entire output from catalina.out when GeoServer is starting up. Thanks.
